Balancing This World and the Next: Date-Night

It's Friday, and my wife and I try a very precarious balancing act. We leave the kids behind and head off for a date-night, just the two of us, inspired by these words from the pen of Qohelet:

I know that there is nothing better for them than to be happy and enjoy themselves as long as they live; also that it is God's gift to man that every one should eat and drink and take pleasure in all his toil.  Ecc 3:12-13

Which is why my wife and I almost always spend Friday evenings something wonderful like this:

Dinner at the Thai restaurant

• Thai beef salad 
• Lemon Grass Soup
• Green Curry or Masaman with Chicken (Dancing Man Hot!)
• Creme Brulee and Coffee, shared

Afterwords, inspired by these words from our Lord,

"So, could you not watch with me one hour? Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." St. Matthew 26:40-41

 ...we head to the church for an hour of Adoration. 

This is what I mean by "Living fully in this world while longing fully for the next.".
